Indian textile experts, Egotech Software, have shown interest in working with Zambia in establishing 20 Apparel and Textile Parks in the country.

Making a presentation to Zambia High Commission in New Delhi, India, Egotech Software Business Development Director Aps Velu says his institution can provide special ICT software for the exercise, which is key in establishing Apparel and Textile Parks.

He says his institution has the necessary strength of establishing Apparel and Textile Parks in Zambia because it was a pioneer consultant in India, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Singapore, Cambodia and Ethiopia.

“Egotech will send a detailed proposal to the Zambian Government to assist the country in preparing a roadmap for providing attractive incentives to prospective investors overseas,” Mr. Velu said.

He says his institution can also help in raising funds for the project from high net worth individuals across the globe and various institutions that commit themselves to such projects such as the World Bank, United Nations Funding Arms, Exim Bank, Warren and Buffet, Obama Foundation and Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

Mr. Velu says the exercise would create twenty thousand jobs in the first phase.

And Zambia’s High Commissioner to India, Judith Kapijimpanga, says Zambia is yearning for the development of the textiles industry in Zambia as it only had the Kafue and Mulungushi Textiles.

“The exercise would help create jobs and result in skills transfer if it comes to fruition,” She said.

Mrs. Kapijimpanga says Zambia itself can consume most of the products adding that its eight neighbouring countries can also benefit and that exports through the Free Trade Area- FTA and AGOA can allow for the exportation to the USA and EU markets.

“May I thank the Honorary Consul of Zambia to Chennai Mr. Natarajan Sukumar for working hard to attract investors from South India,” She said.
