sunshine Hospital ready to work with Zambia

ONE of India’s leading hospitals in joint replacements has offered to work with Zambia in retraining health personnel in the wake of fast moving technology.


Sunshine Hospitals Chairman Dr. Gurava Reddy said his health institution offered 18 fellowships in various subspecialties in academic and research, in which Zambia could take advantage of.


Dr. Reddy disclosed that the number of joint replacements at Sunshine Hospital stood at 4 000 per year, positioning it as one of the top two high volume centres in South Asia.


“The group has divisions such as the Joint Replacement Surgery, Trauma Surgery and Accident Care, Shoulder, Arthroscopy and Sports Injury, Hand and Upper Limb Surgery, Pediatric Orthopedics, Pelviacetabular Surgery, Ilizarov Surgery, Orthopedic Oncology as well as Physiotherapy and Orthopedic Rehabilitation,” he said.


Dr. Reddy said candidates selected for fellowships at his hospital had good exposure to cases in all the sub specialties in the field of orthopedics.


“The candidates also have an opportunity to learn from surgeons with decades of combined experience,” he said.


This came to light when Zambia’s High Commissioner to India Judith Kapijimpanga visited Sunshine Group of Hospitals in Hyderabad, the capital of the southern Indian state of Telangana.


And Mrs. Kapijimpanga said she was happy to note that Sunshine hospital was famous for keeping abreast with a blend of latest advances of clinical acumen and technological advancements.


“The Mission in New Delhi, India, will be looking forward to a Letter of Intent which will be sent to the Ministry of Health through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for further consideration,” she said.
